Definition In i2b2, querying by blood pressure can occur in two ways:
  1. Find patients that had their blood pressure measured.
  2. Find patients with Systolic or Diastolic Blood Pressure Measure of {Value}.
To query by the first method you can simply drag the entire Blood Pressure folder into your query. By doing so, you tell the query to:
  • Find all patients that had a blood pressure measurement, regardless of value
In order to query by specific values in i2b2, blood pressure measurements are broken into their individual components: Systolic Blood Pressure and Diastolic Blood Pressure. To query by specific values of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, you must expand the Blood Pressure folder to expose the individual concepts for Systolic and Diastolic blood pressure. The default and only supported units of measure for Blood Pressure is mmHg.
