Body Mass Index (BMI)

Name Description
Data Domain: Patient Vitals
Data Type: Numeric
Definition Body Mass Index (BMI) is derived from the measured height and weight of a patient. For i2b2, the BMI value is pulled directly from the source system (EPIC/WebCIS) and the calculations are performed by the source system for BMI.
Note!
BMI values will only be available if both a height and weight value are recorded for a patient at a single encounter. If either of these values are not available at the time of entry of Height or Weight, a BMI will not be available for the patient at that encounter.
