Encounter Specific Dates

In general, using the “Date Constraint” button on a query group will achieve most desired timeframe restrictions, however the dates described below are available for use for specific situations.

Name Description
Data Domain: Encounter Details
Data Type: Numeric
Definition There are a variety of dates associated with patient encounters. In most cases, you can constrain on dates by using the ‘Date Constraint’ button on a group in the query panel that contains any item from under the “Encounter Details” ontology. The encounter specific dates currently provided within i2b2 (outside of the ‘Date Constraint’ functionality) include the encounter Discharge Date and Scheduled Date.

These two dates act a little different than other dates you may be interested in (like admission date, procedure date, diagnosis date, etc.), which are specified using the ‘Date Constraint’ that can be applied on a query group (see i2b2 Web Client Help for more information on ‘Date Constraints’). Discharge Date and Scheduled Date are the only two types of dates in i2b2 that must be dragged in to your query rather than being specified in the Date Constraint.
