Inpatient Hospital Service

Name Description
Data Domain: Encounter Details
Data Type: Text
Definition Hospital services only apply to patients that are classified as inpatients and corresponds to the hospital service associated with the patient encounter (also known as the “Discharging Service”). Prior to May 2020 i2b2@UNC only supported the last or discharge hospital service but as of May 2020 the entire series of services associated with a patient stay is now available under Point of Care.

Source: Epic and Legacy

Note!
When UNC Health Care System moved to Epic, some of the existing hospital services changed names or three-letter abbreviations. Where names/abbreviations did NOT change, we combined the legacy data and Epic data in the top level of the folder. Where the names DID change, we separated out the legacy name into the “Legacy/WebCis Only Services” folder. If you are interested in hospital service both prior to and after the Epic Go Live, you may need to use one or more services in this subfolder.
