Introduction

The following information is being provided to help explain the information within UNC’s i2b2. The goals of this documentation include:

• Briefly describing the parent categories in the ontology (i.e. Patient Demographics)
• Identifying the major concept categories within the parent categories (i.e. Ethnicity)
• Describing the source of each concept category (Epic, WebCIS)
• Noting important details about how to use each concept within i2b2
• Examples of how to use some complicated concepts together

• How to use various components of i2b2
